Daniel Jones Says He’s Ready for the Duel Against the Texans
The Colts’ quarterback, Daniel Jones, is dealing with a fibula injury, but has confirmed that he will be ready for Sunday’s crucial matchup against the Houston Texans, corresponding to the AFC South. This news comes after reports suggesting that Jones is playing with a fracture. Although the Colts have neither confirmed nor denied the information, a team source reported that Jones will appear as a full participant in Thursday’s injury report, after having been limited on Wednesday. Jones explained on Wednesday that the injury, reported by the Colts last week, was the result of “something that was there, and I realized it last week. I’ve been receiving treatment and making sure I’m in the best possible shape.” He couldn’t specify when the injury occurred, but alerted the medical staff a few days after the Colts returned from their bye week. The quarterback added: “I’m fine. I’ll be ready to play on Sunday. Obviously, I was on the field last week. I’m good to play.” Jones played in last Sunday’s game against Kansas City, where the Colts, despite having a 20-9 lead, ended up losing 23-20 in overtime. In the last quarter, Jones completed only 3 of 8 passes for 17 yards, while the Colts had three consecutive possessions without advancing. With Jones as the starter after his signing in the offseason, the Colts have proven to be one of the most outstanding offenses in the NFL, leading the league in scoring with 31 points per game and maintaining the first place in yards per play (6.3).It’s hard to say exactly when it happened.
