Joe Burrow will undergo surgery and will be out for several months

The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback, Joe Burrow, will require surgery on his toe that will sideline him for a minimum of three months, according to sources.

Burrow suffered the injury at 8:36 of the second quarter during the 31-27 home victory against Jacksonville, when Jacksonville defensive end Arik Armstead brought him down.

In the play, Burrow was trapped under other players who fell on him.

Initially, Burrow limped while trying to leave the field. After a few steps, he fell to the turf. He was evaluated for several minutes in the injury tent. Although he tried to walk towards the locker room, he stopped a few meters from the tunnel, requiring assistance from the medical staff to return.

Originally, Burrow was listed as questionable to return before being ruled out. He did not return to the field and used a walking boot and crutches after the game.

Instead, Jake Browning led the Bengals to a comeback victory, capped by his 1-yard leap over the goal line with 18 seconds remaining in the game.

Burrow, the first draft pick in 2020, suffered injuries that ended his seasons in 2020 (knee) and 2023 (wrist), causing him to miss a total of 13 games. He also played with a calf injury sustained in training camp before the 2023 campaign.

In 14 games without Burrow as their starting quarterback, the Bengals have a losing record and average just under 20 points per game.
