Jimmie Ward, Texans Player, Avoids Formal Domestic Violence Charge

A grand jury in Montgomery County, Texas, has decided not to indict Houston Texans safety Jimmie Ward following his arrest on suspicion of felony domestic violence. The jury’s decision comes after they found no probable cause to believe Ward committed the alleged crimes against the woman involved in the incident.

I can finally move on.

Jimmie Ward
Ward, who is currently on the NFL commissioner’s exempt list, issued these statements. This situation stems from his arrest on June 12 at his home in Magnolia, Texas, for alleged domestic violence. While on this list, Ward is unable to participate in practices or attend games. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy stated that the league continues to monitor all developments in the case, which remains under review. According to reports, the woman accused Ward of having assaulted her “violently on repeated occasions, both sexually and physically” in the presence of her 3-year-old son on the morning of the arrest. She managed to escape and call the police. Additionally, Ward was arrested on August 7th for violating the conditions of his release, which included not consuming alcohol, something he claimed he was unaware of. Tests revealed the presence of alcohol in his system, resulting in his overnight incarceration. The woman filed a lawsuit against Ward in the Harris County District Court, Texas, on August 21, seeking compensation of more than $20 million.
