Justin Jefferson Returns to Vikings Training

Minnesota Vikings star receiver Justin Jefferson has returned to practice after a 25-day absence due to a left hamstring injury. Jefferson, who suffered the injury last month, participated in warm-ups and individual exercises on Monday, but did not play in team practices. Caution is key for the Vikings, considering Jefferson’s history with hamstring injuries, including the loss of seven games in 2023. Although Jefferson will not play in the last preseason game against the Tennessee Titans, he is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season against the Chicago Bears.

I’m like a kid at heart. I want to be here with the guys. I want to play football and I want to be in the mix. I don’t like being the only person standing on the side.

During his time away, Jefferson focused on understanding why he has had hamstring problems in the last two years. He has recognized that his unique playing style can put more pressure on his body, and he is now focusing on strengthening himself in those specific positions. Jefferson’s return comes at a crucial time for the Vikings, as the receiver position is in a state of uncertainty. Jordan Addison will serve a three-game suspension at the start of the season, and Jalen Nailor has yet to return to training due to a hand injury. Coach Kevin O’Connell has indicated that Nailor is evaluating his return plan, classifying his status as “week-to-week”, without confirming if surgery is an option. The Vikings have been rotating several receivers in training camp, including Tim Jones, Lucky Jackson, Thayer Thomas, and rookie Tai Felton.
