Jaylen Warren Secures His Future with the Steelers: Two-Year Contract Extension
Steelers running back Jaylen Warren has solidified his position in Pittsburgh with a two-year contract extension that extends through the 2027 season, according to his agency, Aura Sports Group, on social media.
The agreement includes a guaranteed $12 million.
Warren, who arrived at the Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2022, after standing out in his first training camp, is poised to be the team’s starting running back in the 2025 season, after three seasons as a complement to Najee Harris.
The Steelers did not exercise Harris’ fifth-year option and let him go in free agency this year, leaving Warren at the head of a running back group that also includes rookie Kaleb Johnson and former Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell.
Warren, whose college career took him through Snow College, Utah State, and Oklahoma State, has established himself as a versatile player in the last three seasons, valued for his pass protection, speed, and ability to catch the ball.
He has a career average of 4.8 yards per carry and seven yards per reception.
Although injuries limited him last season, Warren recorded 511 rushing yards on 120 attempts and a touchdown in 15 regular season games, in addition to 310 receiving yards on 38 receptions.
As a rookie, Warren played 31% of the offensive plays, but in the following two seasons, he and Harris shared the repetitions more equitably, with Warren playing 49% and 45% of the offensive plays.
