Jakobi Meyers Stands Firm on His Raiders Trade Request
Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers is standing firm on his request to be traded from the team, as the NFL trade deadline of November 4 approaches. In August, Meyers requested a change after being unable to reach an agreement on a new contract. However, the Raiders denied his request. Meyers is in the final year of his three-year, $33 million contract, which he signed in 2023 after four seasons with the New England Patriots. Meyers commented that he hasn’t thought much about a new deal with the Raiders since the season began.“Of course,” Meyers said on Tuesday. “But I’m a professional at the end of the day. I’m just trying to play good football. If I’m here, I’ll play good football. If I’m not here, I’ll go out and play where I’m supposed to be.”

Meyers added that he hasn’t spoken with the team about his trade request lately. He’s focused on the present despite being the subject of trade rumors, as Las Vegas is in last place in the AFC West with a 2-5 record.“That window closed with the offseason,” Meyers said. “If it does, I don’t really care. I really just want to be in a good place for myself and my family.”

Meyers also added: “If they move me, they move me. But in the meantime, I have some real people who care about me by my side, so I’m trying to make sure I’m the best of me for them.” Meyers mentioned that players joke whenever they see their names in trade discussions. “Like, what time is your flight? It’s all fun and games,” he said.“[The Raiders] know how I feel,” Meyers said. “There’s no reason for me to keep going back to them crying, ‘Can you get me out of here?'”

“Everyone is a comedian around this, and I’m fine with that,” he said. “I like to hear the jokes as long as the guys are willing to talk about it. If they have a problem, I’ll be open with them.”
Jakobi MeyersMeyers missed last week’s 31-0 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs due to a knee/toe injury he suffered against the Tennessee Titans in Week 6. He was out for two days of practice before returning to the field on Friday. Meyers warmed up before the start, but decided it was better not to play. He practiced on Tuesday and plans to be available for the Week 9 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars at home.In 97 career games (76 starts), 28-year-old Meyers has totaled 422 receptions for 4,921 yards and 20 touchdowns. He has recorded at least 800 yards in four consecutive seasons and totaled a career-high 1,027 yards in 2024. In six games of 2025, Meyers has totaled 29 receptions for 329 yards. Despite the Raiders’ difficulties, especially on offense (three games with less than 10 points scored), Meyers said the team has stayed united.“It wasn’t good sitting on the bench watching the guys lose like that,” Meyers said. “I definitely just want to get out there, do my part, and hopefully bring a little spark to the offense.”
Jakobi Meyers“Everyone cares a lot about winning. We’re here fighting,” Meyers said. “It’s a new regime. We’re trying.”
