Travis Hunter Ready for Jaguars Debut

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter is fully recovered and ready to participate in the season opener against Carolina, scheduled for September 7, according to general manager James Gladstone announced on Wednesday. Hunter had been dealing with an upper body injury since August 14. This prevented him from playing in the last two preseason games, limiting him to participating in individual practice sessions. Despite this, on Wednesday, Hunter joined the team in training.

“He’s in the field today and at full speed,” Gladstone affirmed.

Gladstone also confirmed that the team’s expectations for Hunter’s performance on both sides of the field against the Panthers have not changed, despite recent limitations in practice. Hunter did not participate in full practices for four sessions and did not play in the last preseason game, following the example of other starters.

“There has been no change in that regard. We expect him to be who we know he is, someone who impacts both sides of the ball. We can’t wait to see him on Sundays and a Monday night,” added Gladstone.

In the 15 practices in which he fully participated, Hunter accumulated 364 plays in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 situations. The distribution was almost even: 188 plays on offense and 176 on defense. Specifically, in the 11-on-11 work, Hunter was on the field for 173 offensive plays and 168 defensive plays.
