In a performance that defied expectations, Josh Jacobs, running back for the Green Bay Packers, achieved an outstanding performance despite feeling unwell during Sunday’s game.
Despite previous nausea and during the game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Jacobs accumulated 150 yards from the line of scrimmage and scored two touchdowns. His determination was evident in every play, demonstrating once again his value to the team.
“I felt bad this morning,” Jacobs said. “But I told them: ‘The last time I felt like this, I had 130 yards and two touchdowns.’ So, it is what it is.”
Josh JacobsJacobs recalled that this situation had given him good results in the past, including during his time with the Raiders and in an SEC championship with Alabama.
During the match, Jacobs was seen coughing and dealing with his discomfort, but he continued playing with intensity.
After a slow start for the Packers’ ground game at the beginning of the season, Jacobs has performed great in the last two games. On Sunday, he ran 18 times for 93 yards, including touchdown runs of 3 and 4 yards, and caught five passes for 57 yards. This followed a strong performance in the Week 4 tie against the Dallas Cowboys, where he ran for 86 yards (including 70 in the last quarter and OT) with two touchdowns and caught four passes for 71 yards.
Jacobs became the sixth player in Packers history with at least 150 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns in consecutive games, and the first since Ahman Green in 2001.
The Player of the Match award went to kicker Lucas Havrisik, who replaced Brandon McManus due to an injury. Havrisik, who hadn’t kicked in an NFL game since the 2023 season, made all five attempts, including a 39-yard field goal.
Jacobs expressed his satisfaction with Havrisik’s performance, acknowledging his contribution to the triumph.
Jacobs’ yards were the product of a hard effort, including a season-high 74 yards in runs between the tackles, and his two touchdowns. Since joining the Packers at the start of the 2024 season, he has 21 touchdowns on inside runs, six more than any other player. Jacobs also had a season-high 48 yards after contact.
Tucker Kraft, Packers tight end, praised Jacobs, highlighting his leadership and consistent effort.“I was with the mic, so I don’t know if they’ll put it in or not,” Josh Jacobs said after vomiting several times on Sunday. Packers teammates were asking him if he was okay, to which he replied: “We’ll figure it out.”
