Travis Hunter: Dual Threat on the Field for the Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars plan to utilize Travis Hunter on both offense and defense during Friday night’s scrimmage at EverBank Stadium. This will be the first time Hunter plays both roles in a training game. Head coach Liam Coen explained that this strategy will allow the team to assess whether it is necessary to adjust Hunter’s practice and meeting schedule for the following week and beyond.Hunter participated in the attack on Monday, after having been on defense during the previous two practices. He was on the field for 12 plays (all in 11-on-11) and made two receptions. He is expected to continue on offense on Tuesday before returning to defense on Thursday. In the Jaguars’ first five practices, Hunter has split his time almost equally between offense and defense in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 situations. He has participated in 48 offensive plays and 47 defensive plays. He will return to defense before our simulation scrimmage and we will be able to use that simulation as an evaluation to see, okay, what do we need to do now? How did it look in the scrimmage? Do we need to maybe put him more on defense? Hey, these other guys are producing and developing, and we can continue with the program as it is.
