Travis Hunter in Doubt for Jaguars Preseason Game
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter is dealing with an upper body injury, according to coach Liam Coen. His participation in Sunday’s preseason game against New Orleans is uncertain. Hunter was held out of Friday’s practice as a precaution. However, he was present throughout the practice and remained attentive with a playbook alongside receivers coach Edgar Bennett.Hunter, who was the second pick in the 2025 draft, has been practicing on both sides of the ball and has participated in 364 plays in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills in the last 15 practices. In Thursday’s practice, he participated in 17 plays on offense and 16 on defense. Hunter’s absence might not be the only one among the starters against the Saints. The coaching staff will discuss the situation on Friday, considering the possibility of keeping other key players off the field due to the multiple injuries that have arisen during the week. Right tackle Anton Harrison (lower body), guard/tackle Chuma Edoga (lower body) and cornerback Tyson Campbell (upper body) worked separately on Friday. Defensive tackles Arik Armstead (back) and Maason Smith (lower body), who was activated from the PUP list on Thursday, participated in individual work, but not team work.“That’s what they’re supposed to do when they’re injured,” Coen commented. “We want to make sure they’re locked in, understanding the plays and being able to watch and mentally execute.”

“I really don’t want to say, ‘You’re going to play. You’re not going to play,’ that type of thing,” Coen expressed. “We need to make sure if we put Trevor Lawrence in, we’re protected and have the right players up front. Same with the running backs. Just making sure we’re not putting people in vulnerable situations because of injuries.”
