Jimmy Haslam Denies Rumors about Arch Manning and Shedeur Sanders
Browns co-owner Jimmy Haslam recently addressed speculation surrounding potential franchise moves in the 2026 NFL draft, specifically regarding Texas quarterback Arch Manning. Haslam, with strong ties to the Manning family, including Peyton, Arch’s uncle, was consulted about the rumors linking the Browns to the young quarterback.
Arch Manning, who is about to begin his first full-time starting season, avoided questions about his potential to turn professional during the SEC media days earlier this month. Additionally, Haslam denied any influence on the selection of quarterback Shedeur Sanders by the Browns in the fifth round of the 2025 draft. He stated that the decision was made by general manager Andrew Berry, despite speculation about his involvement in the choice. The cameras inside the Browns’ draft room captured Haslam sitting behind Berry and head coach Kevin Stefanski when Sanders’ selection was announced. Cleveland ended Sanders’ surprising fall on the third day of the draft by selecting him with the 144th overall pick. Sanders was the second quarterback the Browns drafted, after Dillon Gabriel, who was selected with the 94th overall pick.“I think if you know the Manning family, I would bet, and I don’t know Arch at all, I would bet he stays in college two years,” Haslam said. “So, I really don’t even think it’s worth discussing.”

“We have a good process,” Haslam said. “If they had told me… Friday night going home, you guys are going to pick Shedeur, I would have said: ‘That’s not going to happen.’ But, we had a conversation early that morning and we had a conversation later that day. I think we had the right people involved in the conversation. At the end of the day, that’s Andrew Berry’s decision. Andrew made the decision to pick Shedeur”.
