Meeting between Nick Chubb and the Browns: A remote possibility?
The possibility of star running back Nick Chubb rejoining the Cleveland Browns seems increasingly distant, according to statements from General Manager Andrew Berry.
Chubb, who has been a key figure on the team and ranks third on the Browns’ all-time rushing yards list, has yet to sign a contract after spending seven seasons in Cleveland.
The situation is further complicated by the recent addition of two new running backs in the NFL draft: Quinshon Judkins from Ohio State and Dylan Sampson from Tennessee.
“I wouldn’t rule anything out, but I’d say it’s increasingly unlikely,” Berry commented.

Berry also mentioned the importance of Jerome Ford in the team’s scheme, suggesting a possible reconfiguration in the role of the running backs.
Although Berry doesn’t completely rule out Chubb’s return, he acknowledges that it’s less likely, at least in the short term.
During the draft, Berry maintained contact with Chubb and his representatives, but communication has since been reduced.
Chubb, 29, missed the first six games of the 2024 season due to recovery from a serious knee injury suffered in the second week of the 2023 season.
In the eight games he played, Chubb failed to regain his best form, recording 332 rushing yards and career lows in yards per carry (3.3), yards after contact per carry (1.85), and percentage of carries that gained at least 10 yards (4.9%). A foot fracture in week 15 ended his season.
Berry assured that Chubb’s foot fracture is already healed and is not a cause for concern.
Before the knee injury, Chubb was one of the most productive running backs in the NFL, with four Pro Bowl selections. He ran for over 1,000 yards in four consecutive seasons before 2023, including a career-high of 1,525 in 2022. Despite his struggles in 2024, Chubb still averages 5.1 yards per carry in his career, surpassed only by Jamaal Charles (5.4) in the Super Bowl era (minimum 1,000 carries).
