Dallas Goedert Secures His Future with the Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles and tight end Dallas Goedert have reached an agreement to restructure his contract, which guarantees the player’s stay on the team for the 2025 season. A source close to the league confirmed the news.

Goedert, 30, was about to finish the last year of his previous contract, which brought him more than 14 million dollars per season. The new agreement establishes a salary of 10 million dollars for this season, with the possibility of earning an additional million dollars through incentives.

During this offseason, there was speculation about a trade for Goedert, and there was even interest from other teams. However, both parties managed to reach a financial agreement that allows Goedert to remain in Philadelphia.

The Eagles have adopted a more cautious stance regarding spending this offseason, after having awarded significant contracts to several of their stars in recent years, including quarterback Jalen Hurts, running back Saquon Barkley, and wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, as well as right tackle Lane Johnson.

This offseason, the team let defensive linemen Milton Willians and Josh Sweat leave as free agents, released cornerback Darius Slay Jr., and traded starting safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson to the Houston Texans.

“Obviously, Dallas has been a tremendous player and person for us,” general manager Howie Roseman stated earlier this offseason. “We have a lot of respect for him in both aspects, as a player and as a person.”

Goedert, selected in the second round of the 2018 draft, coming from South Dakota State, has been a starter in 76 games with the Eagles, accumulating 349 receptions for 4,085 yards and 24 touchdowns. In the 2024 regular season, he recorded 42 receptions for 496 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games, and led the team in receptions (17) and receiving yards (215) during his participation in the playoffs.

Injuries have prevented Goedert from reaching his full potential in Philadelphia, missing three or more games in each of the last three seasons.
