In a performance to forget, the New York Jets suffered a historic defeat in their passing game, despite the confidence of coach Aaron Glenn in his quarterback, Justin Fields.

Historical Performance and Trust in the Marshal

After the 13-11 defeat to the Denver Broncos, Glenn defended Fields against criticism, calling the question about a possible quarterback change inappropriate. “There are players who have bad games,” added Glenn, “that doesn’t mean you should bench them. You know better than that.” The performance was so bad that it became the worst in Jets history in terms of net passing yards, with a worrying -10. Fields completed 9 of 17 passes for only 45 yards, suffering 55 lost yards from nine sacks, contributing to this negative record.

The passing game was nonexistent.

El mariscal de campo Justin Fields fue capturado nueve veces, perdiendo 55 yardas el domingo, mientras los Jets registraron su mínimo histórico de -10 yardas netas de pase contra los Broncos.
The constant pressure on Fields, with 48% of his plays under pressure, and his tendency to hold the ball for too long, were key factors. The situation wasn’t new; the previous week, Fields suffered five sacks against the Dallas Cowboys. Glenn defended Fields, pointing out that other players also needed to improve their performance and that the quarterback couldn’t be solely blamed. A particularly questionable sequence occurred at the end of the first half, when the Jets, on fourth down and one yard to go, chose not to play, despite having 32 seconds on the clock. Garrett Wilson, star receiver, questioned the strategy and expressed his disappointment, mentioning the need for a “nothing to lose” mentality. Glenn explained that the decision not to play was based on avoiding giving the ball to the Broncos before halftime. The Jets, with a record of 0-6, suffered their third-worst offensive performance in franchise history, with their longest pass of only 11 yards and a total of 82 net yards. Fields took responsibility, acknowledging the need to improve and get the ball out faster against the strong rival defense. John Simpson, guard, called it “insane” not to reach 100 total yards.
