Brian Daboll Keeps Uncertainty in Key Giants Decisions

New York Giants coach Brian Daboll remained tight-lipped on Monday about crucial decisions for the start of the season. The coach avoided revealing who will be the backup quarterback and other key moves for Sunday’s matchup against the Washington Commanders. Daboll declined to confirm whether Jaxson Dart or Jameis Winston will serve as the backup to the starting quarterback. Russell Wilson is scheduled to start the game. Dart, a first-round selection, has impressed in training camp and preseason games. Winston, on the other hand, has vast experience in the NFL.

Any decision on the roster regarding who will be the substitute, we will announce it on Sunday.

Also, Daboll didn’t announce whether Deonte Banks or Cor’Dale Flott will start as the second cornerback alongside Paulson Adebo. Nor did he confirm whether Greg Van Roten or Evan Neal won the competition for the starting right guard position. Van Roten has taken the first-team snaps and is expected to be the starter. The coach also indicated that left tackle Andrew Thomas could be ready for Week 1 after recovering from foot surgery. It is not clear if this will happen, and Daboll only said he expected everyone to participate in a mock game on Monday. Star receiver Malik Nabers, who has been dealing with a toe injury and did not participate in the preseason, could also be available. Nabers had a standout rookie season, with 109 receptions for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns. The league does not require teams to share injury information until the regular season. The first injury disclosures are expected to be made on Wednesday.
