Jaxson Dart Set for Giants Debut

The New York Giants have designed a special playbook for Jaxson Dart, the young quarterback, in case he participates in the first game of the season against the Washington Commanders. A source confirmed the information to Alofoke Deportes.

Dart, who was selected in this year’s draft, will be in the backup position behind Russell Wilson. Jameis Winston, a veteran, will be the third emergency quarterback, according to the source.

Giants coach Brian Daboll hadn’t revealed last week whether Dart or Winston would be Wilson’s backups, telling reporters the team would announce the decision on Sunday.

However, Dart was ahead of Winston in the first unofficial regular season depth chart the Giants released on Monday.

The Giants selected 22-year-old Dart with the number 25 pick in this year’s draft, after making a trade to secure the former Ole Miss star.

Dart had the majority of the repetitions with the second team during the summer and showed a good performance in the preseason games. He completed 32 of 47 passes for 372 yards and three touchdowns, with no interceptions, in addition to running for a touchdown.

Daboll announced that Wilson, 36, and a 10-time Pro Bowl selection, would be the Giants’ starter at the start of training camp in July. Wilson quickly established himself as a leader in New York’s quarterback group after signing a one-year contract with the Giants in March.

NFL Network initially reported the Giants’ plans for Dart in Week 1.
