Giants Show No Rush to Trade Wilson
Sources close to the New York Giants organization have revealed that there is no “sense of urgency” to replace Russell Wilson with rookie Jaxson Dart. Although a change in the quarterback position could occur in the near future, the Giants prefer to be patient. They want Wilson to improve his performance and give Dart the time needed to develop, according to sources. The continued absence of left tackle Andrew Thomas further complicates the acceleration of the transition to Dart. Thomas, who is recovering from a Lisfranc injury suffered last season, is questionable for the upcoming game against the Dallas Cowboys. James Hudson III is expected to take his place. The Giants want to have Thomas back as soon as possible to protect the quarterback’s blind side. The main debate this week has revolved around whether Dart should replace Wilson, who struggled in the opening week loss against the Washington Commanders. Giants coach Brian Daboll confirmed that Wilson will remain the starter for Week 2. Dart, who was the second quarterback against Washington, primarily worked as the scout team quarterback, simulating Dallas’ Dak Prescott during this week’s practices.Wilson, 36, completed 17 of 37 passes for 168 yards in his debut with the Giants, who only managed 231 total yards and did not score any touchdowns in the 21-6 loss against the Commanders. Dart commented that his “job is to be the best teammate” for Wilson, adding that he tries to ignore the calls from fans and the media for him to be the starter.I’m preparing myself for any opportunity that comes my way. So there’s no specific game plan or anything like that. I’m just trying to be prepared and ready when they call me.

Whenever you don’t win, people talk and things like that happen. It’s completely different if you win. You have to take all of that with a grain of salt, and my job is to control what I can control and be the best teammate I can be.
