CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Carolina Panthers, looking to strengthen their run defense and quarterback pressure, signed defensive end Tershawn Wharton from the Kansas City Chiefs during the offseason. However, the team will have to do without Wharton, who suffered a hamstring injury. This injury will keep him out of action for two to four weeks, according to reports. The injury occurred during the team’s defeat on Sunday, with a score of 26-10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Wharton initially left the field to be evaluated for a possible concussion, but then returned and suffered the hamstring injury. This is a significant blow for a defense that conceded 200 yards on the ground to the Jaguars and failed to get any sacks.

I was having a fantastic game. He made four tackles early on and was doing a great job of shedding blocks and creating opportunities.

Dave Canales, Panthers coach, on Wharton
In other team-related news, coach Dave Canales expects to have left tackle Ikem Ekwonu this week, who underwent an emergency appendectomy two weeks ago.
