EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The New York Giants received positive news this Tuesday with the return of two of their key figures: wide receiver Malik Nabers and left tackle Andrew Thomas, who rejoined the training sessions. In addition to Nabers and Thomas, rookie running back Cam Skattebo also returned to practice, after recovering from a hamstring injury that kept him out for a few weeks.
The Return of the Stars
Malik Nabers, after overcoming a slight back issue, participated in practice in a limited manner, focusing on individual exercises and specific routines. Although he was seen running some routes without apparent problems, the team has chosen to be cautious with their main offensive weapon, which suggests that he will be in optimal condition for the start of the season.Cam Skattebo, for his part, joined the team practices.Andrew Thomas, who underwent Lisfranc surgery on his foot last year, has been removed from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. His return to the field, more than two weeks before the start of the season, increases the chances that he will be ready for the September 6 matchup against the Washington Commanders. On his first day back, Thomas was gradually integrated into the activities, participating in individual exercises and working with a physical trainer.Thomas acknowledged that recovering from this injury has been a challenge. The presence of Nabers and Thomas is fundamental for the Giants, who have been careful with their star players during the summer. Thomas, in particular, could be the team’s most important player, as they have only won three of 18 games without him in the last two seasons.“It feels great. It’s been a long time. I’m grateful to be back out there. I know I’m not fully back practicing with everyone, but doing some [individual drills] felt good,” Thomas stated.

It is likely that both players will not participate in the preseason games, given that their last practice before the game was on Tuesday and their activities were very limited.“Today was the day we were planning for him to be back in shape,” Giants coach Brian Daboll said. “We’ll take it slow, but the coaches did a really good job and [Thomas] has done a good job. We’ll just keep building him up.”
