New York Giants Kick Off Season with Three Quarterbacks
The New York Giants will start the season with three quarterbacks on their roster, following the decision to release Tommy DeVito, who was initially fourth in the hierarchy, according to sources. DeVito, who won the affection of fans and the nickname “Tommy Cutlets”, had an unexpected success in 2023 with three consecutive wins as an undrafted rookie. Despite this, he was expected to be the player leaving the team, due to the presence of Russell Wilson, veteran Jameis Winston, and Jaxson Dart, selected in the first round of the 2025 draft. The player, originally from New Jersey, was very well received by the Giants’ fans, participating in 12 games with the team, including eight as a starter. However, during the summer and preseason, his participation was limited. In his last game with the Giants, DeVito completed 15 of his first 17 passes, throwing three touchdown passes in his first three series on Thursday against the New England Patriots. He received an ovation from the home fans, who recognized his performance and his time with the team.Tommy has done everything we’ve asked of him since he arrived.
Brian Daboll, Giants coach
It means a lot. The ovation, if I were in the stands, I would be cheering for whoever the hometown kid was. It was very appreciated.
