Former NFL Player Sues Chiefs for Discriminatory Dismissal
Kansas City, Mo. – Ramzee Robinson, former NFL player, has filed a lawsuit against the Kansas City Chiefs for wrongful termination. Robinson, who previously served as the director of player engagement, alleges racial discrimination by the franchise. The lawsuit, filed Sunday in the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri, details Robinson’s accusations. According to the document, Robinson was summoned to a meeting in February, where he was accused of assaulting a coworker. In addition, he denounces that the Chiefs refused to show him the security video of the incident. As a result, Robinson was fired from his position, which involved important responsibilities such as managing the wardrobe and mentoring the players. The lawsuit also points out salary disparities. Robinson, who received a salary of $125,000, investigated and discovered that other NFL teams paid similar positions an average of $171,932, not including additional benefits. In addition, he alleges that the Chiefs paid African American employees less compared to their white counterparts.Chiefs spokesman Brad Gee stated that he could not comment on pending legal matters, but emphasized that the team does not tolerate discrimination. Gee added that they hope the facts of the case will come to light. Ramzee Robinson, 41 years old, was selected in the 2007 draft by Detroit. He played 19 games with the Lions and then participated in three games with Philadelphia and four with Cleveland in 2009.
