A woman is behind bars accused of stealing millions of dollars from former Miami Dolphins safety, Reshad Jones, in complicity with her former financial advisor. According to an arrest report obtained Thursday, Isaiah Williams, Jones’s former financial advisor, is accused of stealing $1.58 million from the former player’s personal bank account, taking advantage of his access to it. Court records indicate Williams used the money on luxury items, legal fees, and child support. Furthermore, it was revealed that another $1.03 million was laundered from Jones’s account with the help of Octavia Monique Graham, whom Jones told investigators he had never met.

This is another concerning example of how a professional athlete is exploited by a wealth management firm they trust.

Reshad Jones’ Lawyers
Jones’s lawyers issued a statement on Thursday, calling the alleged theft “another worrying example of a professional athlete being exploited by a wealth management firm he trusted.” In the statement, Chase Carlson and Jeff Sonn, Jones’ lawyers, explained that the person responsible was a vice president at Merrill Lynch, the investment management division of Bank of America, one of the world’s largest financial institutions. They also reported that they have filed a lawsuit to hold Merrill Lynch accountable and are working to recover all damages suffered by their client. The jail records show that Graham is incarcerated at the Paul Rein Detention Center in Pompano Beach, Florida, charged with first-degree grand theft. Graham, 49, also faces two counts of money laundering. According to the report, Williams has not yet been arrested for his involvement. Reshad Jones played his entire 10-year NFL career with the Dolphins, being selected for the Pro Bowl in 2015 and 2017; his last season in the league was in 2019. He was selected in the fifth round of the 2010 draft and played 128 games in his NFL career, starting in 113. According to Over The Cap, Jones earned more than $56 million during his playing career.
