Eagles Hire Joe Douglas: Former Jets GM Bolsters Scouting

Philadelphia welcomes Joe Douglas, who returns to the Eagles in a senior scouting role, a league source confirmed.

Douglas, who previously served as the Eagles’ vice president of player personnel from 2016 to 2019, played a crucial role in building the city’s Super Bowl-winning team. This team overcame adversity, including significant injuries, to achieve an outstanding regular season and defeat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII.

His success in Philadelphia led to him being hired as the general manager of the Jets in 2019.

During his more than five seasons in New York, the Jets had a record of 30-64, with no winning seasons or playoff appearances. He was fired last November after a disappointing start to the season.

Douglas, 48, began his career as a scout for the Baltimore Ravens in 2000, participating in two Super Bowls during his 14 years there. In 2015, he worked for the Chicago Bears as director of college scouting before joining the Eagles.

The arrival of Douglas comes after the Eagles lost two key members of their scouting department this offseason.
