Ángel Cabrera se Impone en el Regions Tradition

Argentine golfer Ángel Cabrera won the Regions Tradition, the first major of the PGA Tour Champions season. The final round, suspended due to weather conditions, was completed on Monday morning, culminating in an outstanding performance by Cabrera.

Cabrera, who started on Sunday on the 16th hole tied at the top with Jerry Kelly, resumed the game with determination. He achieved a birdie on the 16th hole, a valuable par on the 17th and closed with another birdie on the 18th, finishing with an impressive total of 20 under par.

This victory marks Cabrera’s first major on the senior circuit, solidifying his return to high-level golf. Previously, he had conquered his first victory at the Hall of Fame Invitational in April.

It was a great day.

Cabrera’s triumph came after a period of inactivity, during which he was in prison between 2021 and 2023. The golfer, winner of the U.S. Open in 2007 and the Masters in 2009, expressed his surprise at achieving this level of success so soon.

Jerry Kelly finished in second place with 19 under par, followed by Y.E. Yang of South Korea, who placed third with 18 under par.

Other standouts in the tournament were Steven Alker, Chris DiMarco, Stephen Ames, and Charlie Wi.
