Tyler Smith Becomes the Highest-Paid Interior Offensive Lineman in the NFL

The Dallas Cowboys have secured Tyler Smith, their left guard, with a contract that positions him as the highest-paid interior offensive lineman in the NFL. Sources reveal that Smith has agreed to a four-year extension worth $96 million, including $80 million guaranteed. Previously, Kansas City Chiefs guard Trey Smith held the title with a four-year, $94 million deal signed last July 15th. Tyler Smith was already under contract through 2026, after the Cowboys exercised his fifth-year option for $21.27 million. With this new extension, Smith will be tied to the team through 2030. This move makes Smith the third player to sign an extension with the Cowboys since the start of training camp, following extensions for tight end Jake Ferguson and cornerback DaRon Bland. Ferguson signed a four-year extension worth up to $52 million, with $30 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of $12 million. For his part, Bland agreed to a four-year extension for up to $92 million, including $50 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of $22 million. Smith, selected in the first round of the 2022 draft, has started in the 47 games he has played. As a rookie, he played left tackle and has been selected for the Pro Bowl in the last two seasons. With the recent retirement of Zack Martin, Smith, at 24 years old, has become the leader of the offensive line, which projects to start with a rookie and two second-year players.

It’s important, the leader and it’s showing here. Of course, it will rise from where it has been the first two years. Boy, we have to have his leadership.
