Nick Sirianni Confirms: Kevin Patullo Stays as Offensive Coordinator Despite the Loss

Philadelphia Eagles coach Nick Sirianni has expressed his support for offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, assuring that there will be no changes in the direction of the game despite the team’s recent loss to the Chicago Bears by 24-15.

“We’re not going to change the play caller. But we’re going to evaluate everything,” Sirianni affirmed. “It’s never just about one person. You win as a team, you lose as a team, and it’s about evaluating everything, winning, losing, or tying, and improving from it.”

Sirianni emphasized his confidence in the team and the need to analyze all aspects to improve performance. Philadelphia’s offense, which boasts a high-profile roster including Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Jalen Hurts, has shown underperformance.

The offensive performance has been particularly concerning in the last four games, where the Eagles have averaged 15.5 points, including two consecutive losses that have brought their record to 8-4. Patullo took over as offensive coordinator this season, replacing Kellen Moore, now coach of the New Orleans Saints. In the game against the Bears, the Eagles only managed 51 plays, compared to their opponent’s 85, and struggled on third downs (4 of 12). Saquon Barkley had 13 carries for 56 yards.

“This game, it was strange, it was different, it felt strange out there,” Barkley commented, referring to the development of the match. “I think we have to do a better job of keeping the series going… That’s something we have to address and improve.”

Jalen Hurts completed 19 of 34 passes for 231 yards, with 2 touchdowns and an interception, as well as losing a fumble. The Philadelphia defense allowed 281 rushing yards, with Kyle Monangai and D’Andre Swift of the Bears each surpassing 100 yards on the ground. With the lead in the NFC East over the Dallas Cowboys shrinking, the Eagles will look for solutions during the upcoming break before their game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

“We have to stay together,” Hurts said. “Stay committed to what the team is trying to achieve. In the end, nobody said it would be easy, and we have to embrace the challenge. We have to embrace this moment and respond in the right way.”
