Sources Say Dolphins Won’t Trade Tyreek Hill
Sources close to the situation have confirmed that the Miami Dolphins have no plans to trade their star, Tyreek Hill. Furthermore, so far, they have not received any calls from other teams interested in the wide receiver. Speculation about a possible Hill transfer has been circulating since the end of last season. The player was absent from the last game of the regular season and hinted at the possibility of requesting a team change. Hill’s situation became a topic of conversation again last Sunday, after the five-time All-Pro only managed four receptions in the Dolphins’ 33-8 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. However, sources indicated that the Dolphins have not received any offers for Hill. The receiver is in his second year of a restructured three-year, $90 million contract. The Dolphins have already exercised Hill’s $15.85 million bonus option for this season, leaving him with a base salary of $10 million and $1.8 million in per-game bonuses.
Hill stated on Friday that he is happy in Miami, although he admitted that “whatever happens, will happen” in the NFL. Dolphins general manager Chris Grier clarified earlier this year that Hill never formally requested a trade, and the player eventually apologized for his comments. The Dolphins team captains called a players-only meeting on Tuesday to hold each other accountable and stay on the same page as they prepare to host the New England Patriots in Week 2. Although he wasn’t voted a captain this season, Hill said he fully supports the meeting and believes it will help the team in the long run. Hill also faces accusations of domestic abuse from his ex-wife, who alleges eight separate incidents of domestic violence in documents related to the couple’s divorce case. Hill strongly denied the accusations in a statement released by his lawyer, saying the accusations are part of a “blackmail” that is “an attempt to generate bad media coverage” for the eight-time Pro Bowler. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy and Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel confirmed that the league is investigating the matter. Hill said he had not spoken to the league until Friday afternoon.I don’t pay attention to that. I feel like, for me, noise is good, adversity is an opportunity. I see it that way.
