Kader Kohou Misses Season Due to Injury

The Miami Dolphins’ starting cornerback, Kader Kohou, will be out for the season due to a knee injury suffered during Saturday’s practice. Coach Mike McDaniel confirmed Wednesday that the Dolphins will place Kohou on injured reserve. Kohou was injured during individual drills at the start of Saturday’s practice and limped toward the locker room with a member of the Dolphins’ medical staff.

I saw that he ascended to a different level [this offseason]. The moment is… I felt destroyed until I spoke with Kader, and honestly Kader made me feel a little better, simply because of his mentality.

McDaniel added: “You don’t always know why when things happen, and I worry about the guys who get stuck in that world of fixation on ‘missed opportunities.’ Kader’s mindset was activated that way, where he said ‘this is hard, but I guarantee I’ll come back better.’ That’s the way to approach both the game of football and life.” Kohou joined the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2022 and has since been Miami’s starting cornerback. He was the only returning starter from a secondary that is undergoing a near-complete overhaul. Shortly after Kohou’s injury on Saturday, the Dolphins signed nickel cornerback Mike Hilton. Dolphins safety Ashtyn Davis left Tuesday’s practice early due to a left leg injury sustained during team drills. He remained on the ground for an extended period, hitting the turf in frustration before limping off the field. Davis received medical attention for several minutes before returning to the locker room; he returned minutes later on crutches and with his left foot in a walking boot. McDaniel said he always fears the worst with non-contact injuries, but in Davis’s case, “it wasn’t the worst” in the diagnosis. He will be evaluated again in a few days, but McDaniel said the injury won’t cost him the whole season.
