Tyreek Hill Seeks Redemption: “The Best Version” for the Dolphins
Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is eager to show his best version in the upcoming season. After a 2024 season below expectations, where the Dolphins failed to qualify for the playoffs, Hill has focused his efforts on thorough preparation. In statements to the media after the Dolphins veterans reported for training camp, Hill shared how the events of last season changed his perspective heading into 2025. The player, who had one of the least outstanding seasons of his career, has taken responsibility for his performance.During the last two offseasons, Hill has maintained a series of exchanges on social media with Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles, with the intention of organizing a race, which ultimately did not materialize. In addition, Hill participated in a 100-meter race in the Last Chance Sprint series in California.“I’ve been working really hard all this offseason. I told my dad: I want to see what it’s like when I just focus on football, on myself, and on my family… I feel like I haven’t given the best version of Tyreek in my entire career. I’ve been trying to be here and there, but being able to slow down a bit, train and push myself for myself and also for this community and this team, I feel like it will be worth it.”

When asked what it means to focus on football for a player with diverse extracurricular interests, Hill responded that it starts with being present. “Being present every day, on time, doing extra things, like catching balls after practice conditioning,” he said. “When I’m tired, being that vocal leader in the locker room for the guys, being the guy that Miami paid me for and what I know I can be… I got here through hard work and sometimes when you get to a certain point in your life where you want to be, you think: ‘OK, now it’s fine'”.
After missing the playoffs for the first time in his career last season, Hill suggested in a post-game interview that he wanted a trade from the Dolphins. General manager Chris Grier said he never requested a trade, and Hill retracted his comments and apologized in February. During spring practices, Hill admitted that he would have to earn back his captaincy and prove that he deserves it after missing the last regular season game for Miami once it became clear that the team would not make the playoffs. He said he has watched the clip frequently this offseason and that he needed to be “better as a leader” in those moments. “We have a great opportunity to be special this year. I think the guys have matured a lot,” he said. “I have matured a lot. The coach has even matured a lot, so that’s incredible. We’re all growing together, laughing a lot in the locker room, so we’re going to keep building.”
