Dolphins Concern: Artie Burns Suffers Injury in Practice
Miami Dolphins cornerback Artie Burns may have suffered a torn ACL during Wednesday’s practice. This was reported by sources close to the situation.
Burns, who left the field on crutches, is awaiting an MRI and a second opinion to confirm the severity of the injury.
Another player affected in practice was offensive lineman Bayron Matos, who also suffered an injury and was airlifted to a hospital. The nature of his injury has not been revealed.Artie Burns grabbing his knee during Wednesday’s practice. It is feared that he has suffered an ACL tear.Matos’ injury occurred in the final minutes of the Dolphins’ first day of training. The team reported that Matos, a second-year offensive tackle, was airlifted in stable condition.
Burns, 30, signed with the Dolphins as a free agent in March. The team already had a reduced roster at the cornerback position after trading Jalen Ramsey to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Matos, born in Los Mina, Santo Domingo, was not selected in the 2024 draft, but signed with the Dolphins as a free agent through the NFL’s International Player Development Program, an initiative that provides athletes from countries outside the United States the opportunity to play in the NFL.
He spent time on Miami’s practice squad last year before signing a reserve/future contract in January. He has yet to play in an NFL game.
