Veteran safety Quandre Diggs returns to the Tennessee Titans, the team announced this Tuesday. Diggs’ preference was a return to Tennessee, as he connected with the coaching staff and always wanted to be teammates with his cousin, Cameron Ward, who was selected by the Titans with the first pick of April’s draft.
Diggs played eight games with the Titans in 2024, after joining the team in August last year. He accumulated 42 tackles before suffering a Lisfranc fracture that sent him to the reserve list in November. When healthy, Diggs played 88% of the defensive plays for the Titans. At 32 years old, questions will arise about Diggs’ recovery from the injury, especially as a defensive player. However, Diggs, chosen in the sixth round of the 2015 draft, with 25 other cornerbacks selected before him, affirmed that he is determined to prove that he can still play. I have a natural motivation to prove to all the players who were selected before me that I can last longer than them. The signing of Diggs comes two days after Kevin Winston Jr., a third-round pick in 2025, left early training due to discomfort, although this was part of coach Brian Callahan’s maintenance plan for some players after Winston participated in five practices with equipment in a span of six days. Winston missed most of last season at Penn State due to a torn ACL. He was available for the start of camp. The Detroit Lions selected Diggs with the number 200 pick of the 2015 draft. He was Detroit’s starting nickelback for two seasons before signing a three-year, $20.4 million contract extension with the Lions in 2018. The following season, the Lions traded Diggs along with a seventh-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for a fifth-round pick in 2020. Diggs was named an alternate for the Pro Bowl that season. Diggs was selected three times for the Pro Bowl from 2020 to ’22 with the Seahawks. He signed a three-year, $40 million extension with the Seahawks in 2022. Seattle released Diggs after the 2023 season. In 10 seasons, he accumulates 24 interceptions and 622 tackles. The Titans also signed safety Joshuah Bledsoe on Tuesday and released outside linebacker Titus Leo and safety Mark Perry.I’m a little older than Cam, but it’s always been a dream to play alongside him. I’ve had good conversations with them [Titans]. I know the coaching staff is legitimate and being with them last year was fun.
