FRISCO, Texas – Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, who has lived through prolonged contract negotiations, is not concerned about the possible participation of star linebacker Micah Parsons in the first game against the Philadelphia Eagles on September 4.
Parsons has yet to participate in summer practices due to a holdout awaiting a contract extension from the Cowboys. There have been no conversations, and the team seems content with Parsons playing on the fifth-year option of his rookie contract. Owner and general manager Jerry Jones has also dismissed Parsons’ trade request. Prescott doesn’t believe Parsons’ situation has been a distraction.I am confident. I told them that a long time ago. And honestly, I’m basing it on experience. It’s no different than mine. I’m confident in that. I just hope, and I know he does too, that he’s ready to play.

Trevon Diggs, one of Parsons’ closest friends on the team, is not sure if Parsons will play in the first game. There has been a similar case to this in the last three years, I think, or even before. Not necessarily. I think people can interpret it however they want. I think it’s part of the way the guys think and see things here.

Diggs said Parsons has been training on his own throughout training camp. He wasn’t in the part of practice open to the media on Monday, but he was seen at the end of the session.I just hope everything works out, that everything gets fixed. All the guys miss him. Everyone wants him there. I just hope everything is handled so we can go out and win.

But what about the transfer request of August 1st?I know he’s working. He wants to go out a lot. I know what kind of person he is, I know what kind of worker he is. I just know he wants to be there.
Trevon Diggs
I’ve heard him say it before, he plays for us. We go out there sweating, blood, sweat, and tears. We train together. So at the end of the day it’s really being with us. I know for sure he wants to be there with us.
Trevon Diggs
This is home. This is family. So, why wouldn’t I want to be here?
