In an incident that has caused a stir, quarterback Geno Smith and defensive end Maxx Crosby, both of the Las Vegas Raiders, were caught on video making obscene gestures towards Seattle Seahawks fans before a preseason game on Thursday night. The players’ actions have sparked various reactions on social media and among American football fans. A video shows the team gathered before entering the field. Crosby is seen talking to the fans and trying to grab a sign. Then, Smith joins Crosby, and both jump towards the fans. Upon entering the field, Smith makes the obscene gesture, immediately followed by Crosby.

The incident occurred during a preseason game that ended in a tie.

It is observed that at least one fan seemed to be provoking the players before the gestures. A sign said: “Biggest bust – Geno or JaMarcus Russell?” The Raiders, at the time Oakland Raiders, selected Russell with the first overall pick in 2007, but he had a 7-18 record as a starting quarterback and only played three seasons. Smith was the Seahawks’ starter for the last three seasons before failing to agree on a new contract. He followed his former coach, Pete Carroll, when the Raiders signed him. The Thursday game ended with a score of 23-23.
