Colts Change Kickers: Badgley Out, Grupe In

Indianapolis Colts make a significant change in their kicker position, following the recent loss to the Houston Texans. Michael Badgley has been released, making way for Blake Grupe, who joins the team from the practice squad. The decision comes after Badgley missed his third extra point in seven games, which generated criticism and concern within the team.

We have to be able to make the easy shots, especially the extra points. We’ve missed three PATs in seven games. It’s inexcusable.

Brian Mason, Colts Special Teams Coordinator
Grupe, who was released by the New Orleans Saints last week, arrives with a 79.8% conversion record on field goal attempts during his career. The player has performed solidly on extra points, with only two misses in 88 attempts. The Colts also held a tryout with Justin Tucker, former star of the Baltimore Ravens, who is currently a free agent. Tucker, after serving a 10-week suspension, was looking for a fresh start after his departure from the Ravens. Tucker had his first practice since rejoining the Saints last week, but the team opted to sign Cade York.
