KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones addressed the controversial moment in which he did not give maximum effort on the Jaguars’ winning touchdown. In addition, he clarified the rumors about deactivating his social media. During the game, with 30 seconds remaining and the Jaguars one yard from scoring, quarterback Trevor Lawrence got up after a stumble and managed to cross the goal line for the decisive touchdown. Jones, who had played 48 snaps, watched the play from the center of the field without making a significant effort to stop Lawrence.
Jones assured that he will work to improve and that a similar incident “will not happen again”. He also explained that he deactivated his X and Instagram accounts before Monday’s match, contrary to what many fans thought after the defeat.“It’s a learning point for me, a little bit of adversity. I can’t think the play is over. It’s a lesson. I thought it was over. I thought we had him down, so I stopped and was about to celebrate. Then I realized he wasn’t on the ground”.

“I posted a Drake quote, ‘I’ll see you in the summer of 2026.’ I never run from constructive criticism. I’ve never been that guy. I’ve always addressed it head-on, really. You can get a lot from criticism. It’s like fuel, like gasoline, for me personally.”
Chris JonesThe player added that the deactivation of his social media was due to a previous publication, not his performance in the game. The Chiefs’ next challenge is a stellar Sunday night matchup against the Detroit Lions. Jones is aware that he will need an outstanding performance to stop the NFL’s leading offense, led by quarterback Jared Goff and running backs Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery.“I’ve been focused on the Lions since Monday’s game. You can’t hang your head over a play or a game. You learn from it, take notes, and move on.”
