Chiefs Superfan Xaviar Babudar Sentenced to 32 Years in Prison

Xaviar Babudar, known as ChiefsAholic and a famous superfan of the Kansas City Chiefs, has been sentenced to 32 years in prison in an Oklahoma court. The sentence comes two and a half years after authorities arrested him in the state, while he was fleeing after a bank robbery.

Babudar is already serving a 17-and-a-half-year federal sentence for robbing banks in seven states between 2022 and 2023. The Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office sought an even longer sentence, requesting a life sentence for the 30-year-old man. The current sentence will be served concurrently, meaning he will serve an additional 14 and a half years in an Oklahoma penitentiary after completing his federal sentence.

“I found it offensive that a serial thief could victimize so many hardworking Americans as this man did across the country and only receive 17 and a half years from the federal government.”

Steve Kunzweiler, Tulsa County District Attorney

In March, Babudar pleaded guilty in Oklahoma to armed robbery, assault with a mask or disguise, and removal of an electronic monitoring device, in connection with an armed robbery on December 16, 2022, at Tulsa Teachers Credit Union.

Babudar’s lawyers, Brett and Jay-Michael Swab, expressed relief at the sentencing decision. “They wanted him to die in prison,” said Jay-Michael Swab.

“Our position from the beginning is that we want to live in a world where everyone is treated equally, not based on notoriety or social media presence.”

Swab added that his client’s series of robberies was driven by a gambling addiction and a troubled childhood that left him homeless. He also mentioned that Babudar is remorseful and has found Jesus during his incarceration.

In December 2022, on the way to a Chiefs game against the Houston Texans, Babudar stopped in Bixby, Oklahoma, and pointed a black CO2 pistol at a bank teller, before fleeing with $150,000. He was captured shortly after and, in February 2023, was released on bail. A month later, after receiving $100,000 in winnings from two bets in favor of the Chiefs, he removed his GPS device and went on the run.

After robbing banks in Sparks, Nevada, and El Dorado Hills, California, the FBI captured Babudar in California in July 2023. He was charged with a series of unsolved robberies in the Midwest and in Tennessee.
