Chase Young, out another week for the Saints
New Orleans Saints defensive end Chase Young will not be available for a fourth consecutive week due to a calf injury. Young suffered the injury during a training session on September 3. Initially, Saints coach Kellen Moore downplayed the severity of the injury, indicating that Young would be out of action on a weekly basis. However, he has yet to return to training.Moore explained that he does not regret keeping Young on the active roster instead of the injured reserve and that he was “close” to returning to practice on Wednesday. According to Moore, they didn’t want Young’s injury to become a long-term problem by bringing him back too soon. The timeline is always something you stay flexible with. We’ve had a lot of flexibility within our roster to manage the ups and downs on the 53-man roster.

There is definitely evidence to support returning too soon in these situations. They become recurring problems and create issues that last the entire season, so I think Chase has done everything he can. He’s preparing the right way. He’ll be ready to play.

On the other hand, the Saints hope to get two offensive linemen back this week.
Offensive tackle Taliese Fuaga (knee/back) participated in the entirety of Friday’s practice after missing last week’s game, and guard Trevor Penning, who is recovering from a toe injury, practiced fully for the first time since his injury last month. Penning was active against the Seahawks but did not play in his first week back in practice. Guard Dillon Radunz (toe) has been ruled out for the second consecutive week.
