CeeDee Lamb Takes Responsibility After Game Against Eagles
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb didn’t hesitate to acknowledge his mistakes after Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Lamb, who had three dropped passes, including one that could have been a touchdown, was self-critical and focused on improving. This season, Lamb has accumulated eight dropped passes, the most in his career and the highest number for a Cowboys player since Dez Bryant had nine in 2012. Six of these drops occurred against the Eagles. Lamb attributed the errors to a lack of concentration and anticipating his movements before securing the reception of the ball. “It’s really a lack of concentration on my part, honestly,” Lamb admitted. “Just thinking about doing two before one. There’s been a lot of that and, because of that, I’m thinking about my next move before catching the ball and things like that. It’s really no one’s fault but my own and I’ve never been one to point fingers, but yes, it all depends on me and I have to handle it.” After three drops in the first game against the Eagles, Lamb practiced the next day with the Jugs machine. In the second game against the New York Giants, he achieved nine receptions for 112 yards. Dak Prescott expects a “big game” from Lamb on Thursday against the Kansas City Chiefs. “You just go back and look at his career. Any game where he maybe hasn’t lived up to his standard or had a drop or it’s been a frustrating game, the way he’s responded has been unquestionable,” Prescott said. “I know earlier this year it was the same way from the first time we played them [the Eagles] to his next game. I don’t expect this to be any different.” After Sunday’s game, coach Brian Schottenheimer assured that Lamb will have many opportunities against the Chiefs. “He loves the bright lights,” said Schottenheimer. “He’s an incredible football player and has that look in his eyes that means business. It’s the same look he had after the first Philadelphia game. I think I let the cat out of the bag a little bit, but there will be many balls going to 88 on Thursday afternoon.” In eight games, Lamb has 44 receptions for 632 yards and two touchdowns. He missed three games due to a sprained ankle and Schottenheimer indicated that Lamb is only now 100% recovered. “There really isn’t anyone in my way,” Lamb said. “I feel like I’m the only one protecting me. Let’s fix that.”You just have to find ways to get better. I want to be solution-oriented and not focus on the problem. We already know the problem, I need to catch the ball. Other than that, man, we’ll be alright. When I catch it, be ready.
