Abdul Carter Denies Sleeping at a Giants Training Session
New York Giants rookie Abdul Carter vehemently denied on Tuesday that he had slept during a practice last week, explaining that he was receiving treatment at the time. The information emerged on Monday, a day after Carter was relegated to the bench for the initial series in the 27-22 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, indicating that Carter had fallen asleep during a training session. Carter explained that the new head coach, Mike Kafka, had modified the usual training schedules and that he didn’t realize the change until he was already in treatment at the time he used to be, and that it was already too late. Carter added that he spoke with Kafka about the matter via a FaceTime call later that same day.Carter was expected to start on Sunday in place of the injured Kayvon Thibodeaux. Instead, Tomon Fox played the first six defensive plays before the Packers punted. Kafka did not want to discuss the incident and said that the team was handling the matter internally. The player chosen in the number 3 draft position felt offended by the reports about his supposed dream. Carter felt the need to speak because he believes that what has been reported unfairly tarnishes his name and reputation. My mistake was an honest mistake. I assume the fact that it was an honest mistake. I was receiving treatment and I also told coach Kafka. But to say that I was sleeping at that moment is simply not true. And it wasn’t a trend either. This was the only time it happened.

I don’t want anonymous sources saying these kinds of things about me that are false. I made a mistake, and I take responsibility for what I did.
