Derek Carr announces his retirement from the NFL
New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr has decided to end his NFL career, the team announced on Saturday.
Carr’s decision comes after an evaluation of his physical condition, revealing a labrum injury and degenerative damage to the rotator cuff of his right shoulder, which he uses to throw the ball.
After reflecting and praying, and in conversation with Heather, I have decided to retire from the National Football League,” Carr stated in a statement issued by the team. “For over 11 years, we have been incredibly blessed and will always be grateful and honored for this experience. It’s difficult to find the right words to express our gratitude to all the teammates, coaches, managers, owners, team officials, and especially the fans who made this journey so special. Their unwavering support has meant the world to us.
