TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have activated starting right tackle Luke Goedeke from the injured reserve list due to a foot injury, the team announced Thursday.
In addition, Cody Mauch, starting right guard, was also placed on the reserve list due to a knee injury and will undergo surgery on Friday. Sources close to the team reported that Mauch will miss the rest of the season.
This situation adds to the absence of Tristan Wirfs, starting left tackle and All-Pro, who is in the process of recovering after knee surgery performed during the offseason.
Goedeke, who left the field after 12 plays in Monday night’s game against the Houston Texans, was seen in the Buccaneers’ locker room on Thursday using a mobility scooter. He is expected to return later in the season, as his designation on the injured reserve list requires a minimum of four games absent.
To cover these absences, the Buccaneers have taken action in the player market:
- They signed offensive lineman Dan Feeney, coming from the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad.
- They promoted offensive lineman Luke Haggard from their own practice squad.
- They signed offensive lineman Sua Opeta to their practice squad.
Feeney has extensive experience, having participated in 120 games in his career, with 65 as a starter. He has primarily served as an interior offensive lineman, with 42 starts at guard, and has played for teams such as the Los Angeles Chargers, New York Jets, Chicago Bears, and Minnesota Vikings.
Haggard has spent the last two seasons on the Buccaneers’ practice squad. Previously, he started every game as a left tackle at Indiana University in 2021 and 2022.
Opeta, who has played right and left guard, was one of the players cut during the Buccaneers’ training camp after recovering from a torn ACL last season. Before joining the Bucs, he played four seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he had 10 starts in 38 games.
