Emeka Egbuka Out Due to Injury in Buccaneers Victory
Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie wide receiver Emeka Egbuka suffered a hamstring injury during the game against the San Francisco 49ers, in which the Buccaneers prevailed with a score of 30-19. Egbuka was ruled out of the match. Egbuka, selected in the 19th position of the draft, had accumulated 445 receiving yards before Sunday’s game, ranking fourth in the league in that statistic. In addition, his five touchdowns positioned him as the second best in the league. Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles offered no further details on Egbuka’s condition after the game, only saying that he was still being evaluated. The absence of Egbuka further complicated the situation for quarterback Baker Mayfield in the passing game. However, moments after Egbuka’s absence was announced, Mayfield avoided a sack, ran 15 yards on a third down, and connected with rookie Tez Johnson, who scored a 45-yard touchdown, putting the score at 27-19 at the start of the final quarter. The Buccaneers were already without wide receiver Mike Evans, who has missed three games due to a hamstring injury. In addition, Chris Godwin suffered a fibula injury two games after returning from ankle surgery. It was also the second game missed by running back Bucky Irving, who is dealing with a foot sprain and a shoulder subluxation. Jalen McMillan, another wide receiver who suffered a neck sprain in the second preseason game, is on the injured reserve list, but is expected to be able to return after the Buccaneers’ bye week in week 9. Evans has not yet returned to training, but the initial timeframe for his recovery was three to four weeks, which means he could return next week against the Detroit Lions. Coach Todd Bowles indicated that Godwin’s injury is “week-to-week”.It was something huge. Every time something negative happens, he turns it into something positive and does something to give everyone hope, and that race was one of them.

I really trust the guys who are out there. They are ready. We talked all week. The guys are on the same page and that’s real. I trust these guys, even though some of them haven’t played much, but if we’re on the same page, good things happen.
