Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cut Shilo Sanders

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have made the decision to cut rookie safety Shilo Sanders, according to reports from his agents on Sunday. Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey, Sanders’ representatives, expressed their hope that the player will be claimed by another team through waivers. This news comes at a crucial time, as NFL teams are reducing their rosters to 53 players before Tuesday’s deadline. The incident that led to this decision occurred during Tampa Bay’s third preseason game against the Buffalo Bills, where Sanders was ejected for throwing a punch. The hit was directed at tight end Zach Davidson, after a series of shoves and tussles in the second quarter. Bucs linebacker John Bullock tried to calm Sanders down after the altercation.

“You can’t throw punches in this league, that’s inexcusable. They’re always going to catch you. You have to learn from that,” commented Tampa Bay coach Todd Bowles about the incident.

In addition to the punch, Sanders was also penalized for pass interference in the first quarter of the game. Sanders, son of Pro Football Hall of Fame member Deion Sanders, signed with the Buccaneers after going undrafted.
