Bryce Young Suffers Ankle Sprain and Will Miss the Next Game

Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young suffered a high ankle sprain in Sunday’s victory against the New York Jets. Young is expected to miss the next game against the Buffalo Bills, according to a source. Young’s injury was confirmed by an MRI performed on Monday. Young twisted his right ankle while receiving a catch at the end of the third quarter of Sunday’s 13-6 victory. He was taken to the locker room with the athletic trainers and did not return to the game. Veteran Andy Dalton finished the game and is expected to be the starter in this Sunday’s home game against the Bills. Dalton completed 4 of 7 passes for 60 yards on Sunday, but did not lead any scoring drives in the complicated defensive encounter. Young completed 15 of 25 passes for 138 yards and a touchdown when he suffered the injury, trying to escape pressure on a third-down play. He led Carolina to the 13 points, as the team achieved its third consecutive victory, something that hadn’t happened since the start of the 2021 season. The Panthers improved to 4-3 overall, surpassing .500 for the first time at this stage of the season since 2019. Young’s leadership on offense has been key during the winning streak, with six touchdown passes and two interceptions, one of them on a pass that bounced off the hands of wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan. Your security with the ball has experienced a drastic change compared to the first four games, where he had five touchdown passes and three interceptions, in addition to a couple of fumbles.
