EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Carolina Panthers could face a significant challenge in their upcoming match against the Buffalo Bills, as their starting quarterback, Bryce Young, could be absent due to an ankle injury. The injury occurred during the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the New York Jets, in which the Panthers achieved a 13-6 victory. Young suffered the injury when he was tackled and had to leave the playing field. Coach Dave Canales avoided speculating on the severity of the injury, indicating that Young will be evaluated upon his return home to determine the extent of it.

Running back Rico Dowdle, who led the team with 79 rushing yards, spoke with Young after the game, who assured him that he would be okay. However, the results of medical tests are expected to confirm Young’s condition.

In case Young can’t play, the 37-year-old veteran Andy Dalton would be in charge of leading the offense against the Bills. Dalton finished the game against the Jets with 4 of 7 passes completed, totaling 60 yards, but failed to lead the team to score in a game marked by defense.

Before the injury, Young had completed 15 of 25 passes for 138 yards and a touchdown. His performance has been key in the team’s winning streak, throwing six touchdown passes and only two interceptions. Coach Canales expressed pride in the defense, which has shown constant improvement, and voiced his concern about the possible absence of Young and how this could affect the team’s offensive performance. Young has not been absent due to injury since the third week of his rookie season in 2023. Canales emphasized the need to evaluate all options and determine the best strategy for the team, highlighting that the offense will focus on running the ball and that Dalton is prepared to assume leadership.
