We have a group that we like. We don’t see it as a problem, but as an opportunity.

By the end of July, Berry had already hinted at the possibility of keeping four quarterbacks during the season.
On Monday, the Browns announced Flacco as their starting quarterback for Week 1. Coach Kevin Stefanski did not name a backup. The most recent unofficial Cleveland depth chart shows Pickett as the backup and Gabriel and Sanders as the third and fourth quarterbacks, respectively. Deshaun Watson is expected to start the season on the injured list due to an Achilles tendon injury. Tyler Huntley is also on the 90-player roster. Flacco made his preseason debut, completing 9 of 10 passes for 71 yards and a touchdown in three series. Gabriel completed 12 of 19 passes for 129 yards and a touchdown. Sanders had 3 of 6 passes for 14 yards. Pickett did not play on Saturday due to a hamstring injury that has kept him out all preseason. After the game, Sanders was asked if he thought he deserved to be on the 53-player roster. We have considered the last five roster spots as development spots, and that can come from any position. With the flexibility of the current roster, there is more flexibility in building the 48-player roster for game day, which was not as restrictive before. If there are four who deserve to be on the 53-man roster, we think it makes sense to keep them.

The NFL’s roster cut deadline is Tuesday at 4 p.m.I think, in general, as a player, I’ve worked hard. I feel like everything I do, I try to do my best and that’s all I can ask for. I feel like everyone thinks they should be on the team. If you ask anyone on the team, if they feel like they belong, they belong in their own eyes. I feel like yes, but I am my own player. I think of myself to a high degree, of course. It’s not my decision.
