Martin Emerson Jr. Suffers Achilles Tendon Injury
Cleveland Browns cornerback Martin Emerson Jr. was carted off the field during Tuesday’s practice due to an Achilles tendon injury, the team reported.
Emerson will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the injury.
The non-contact injury to his left leg occurred while Emerson was covering wide receiver Diontae Johnson on a vertical route. Emerson tried to plant his leg at the end of the play, but fell to the ground in pain. He immediately removed his helmet and threw it in frustration.
Emerson couldn’t put any weight on his leg as he was helped onto the stretcher.
Selected in the third round of the 2022 NFL draft (68th overall), Emerson was about to enter the final year of his rookie contract. He has played in 50 games, with 33 starts, recording 202 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 34 passes defended.
