Kenny Pickett Down with Injury: No Return Timeline for Browns Quarterback

Cleveland Browns quarterback Kenny Pickett suffered a hamstring injury during Saturday’s practice, according to coach Kevin Stefanski on Monday. A timetable for his return to activity has not yet been established. Meanwhile, Joe Flacco will take the majority of the repetitions with the first team, as the competition for the quarterback position enters its second week of training.

I don’t have a deadline. With something like this, we’ll see how it goes. But his mentality, my mentality, we’ll go day by day.

Kevin Stefanski
Stefanski confirmed that Pickett injured his hamstring on Saturday and a subsequent MRI confirmed the severity of the injury. Pickett is expected to be re-evaluated later this week. Before Pickett’s injury, Stefanski and his staff would discuss the quarterback rotation for the second week of training. Stefanski indicated that the other quarterbacks, including Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders, would have more opportunities in practice due to Pickett’s injury. However, the team each rookie would work with would depend on the training schedule.

It really depends on the period, what we are trying to achieve in that period and moving these guys, giving them more exposure.

Kevin Stefanski
Sanders, a fifth-round selection, is the only quarterback who did not receive repetitions with the first team during the first week of training.
