A.J. Brown Responds to Criticism of His Performance

Eagles receiver A.J. Brown quickly responded to speculation about his current performance, comparing it to the situation of running back Saquon Barkley.

“I guess Saquon Barkley isn’t the same player either,” Brown said.

The Eagles’ offense, despite having big stars, has had a slow start. Currently, the team ranks 25th in total yards per game, 28th in passing yards, and 29th in third-down conversion.

Although the team averages 115 yards per rush, a considerable decrease compared to last season’s 179 yards, the Eagles lead the NFL in red zone efficiency and have the fewest turnovers. This, along with a solid defense, has kept Philadelphia at the top of the NFC with an 8-2 record.

Brown’s individual production has also decreased, with 38 receptions for 457 yards and three touchdowns in nine games. Currently, he is projected to add 812 yards, his lowest figure so far. When asked if he pays attention to the performance of other receivers, Brown responded with a smile that he doesn’t, because “it bothers me”.

“There’s a time and a place for that, but right now, I’m just trying to stay focused,” he stated.

Brown also pointed out that Barkley is not having an outstanding season statistically, compared to his previous performance. Brown has expressed his frustration on several occasions, both on social media and in interviews, emphasizing his desire to contribute to the team’s success. Faced with questions about the supposed frustration between the coaches and quarterback Jalen Hurts, Brown deflected the conversation, focusing on the upcoming matchup against Dallas. Brown expressed his confidence that the attack is close to working and that it is about correcting errors and finishing the plays. When questioned about the game against a desperate Cowboys team, Brown responded that the Eagles are also desperate to improve.
