Shemar Stewart to the Injury Reserve List
Cincinnati Bengals rookie defensive end Shemar Stewart has been placed on injured reserve, the team announced on Saturday. This situation will keep him out of action for a minimum of four weeks. Stewart has been dealing with a knee injury, suffered during the Week 9 loss against the Chicago Bears. The announcement on Saturday significantly altered the timeline that coach Zac Taylor had presented on Friday when asked about the possible return of Stewart and defensive end Trey Hendrickson to practice. This is the second significant injury Stewart has suffered this season. An ankle injury forced him to miss four games mid-season. Stewart didn’t start participating in on-field workouts this season until he signed his rookie contract in July, after training camp had begun. Stewart missed the offseason workouts due to a contract dispute that was eventually resolved. Stewart has participated in five games, starting in four. He has not yet recorded a catch this season, but has six tackles. At this moment, today, we will continue to evaluate week by week.
